2024 Eastside Dance Festival, May 9th & 10th 2024 Eastside Dance Festival welcomes students from Calgary Board of Education and Calgary Catholic schools as they join in a celebration of dance and community.

May 9, 2024- 7:00pm: Performances include students from:

Our parent engagement committee will be hosting a panel discussion with our community partners and presenting the most recent research on the value of dance for the individual and our community. Each night before the Eastside Dance Festival Showcase, we will present information on how young dancers can continue their pursuit of dance in professional, academic, or recreational pathways.

Calgary Boys' Choir 50th Anniversary Concert & Reception The Calgary Boys’ Choir is thrilled to showcase the pinnacle of a weekend of celebration in honour of its 50th Anniversary: The Calgary Boys’ Choir 50th Anniversary Concert. This landmark occasion will celebrate a remarkable milestone by uniting decades of singers in the Calgary choral community, bringing together alumni, community members, and our current choristers for an unforgettable musical event.

Join us for the celebratory concert on May 26th at the Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall, Rozsa Centre, University of Calgary. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Kathryn Berko, this event will feature performances by the workshop choir and current members of the Calgary Boys’ Choir. The workshop choir will be directed by the esteemed Gerald Wirth. Mr. Wirth is the current artistic director of the Vienna Boys’ Choir and is a former Calgary Boys’ Choir artistic director (1991-1998). Also joining is past director Julie Freedman-Smith. We are honoured to welcome special guest alumni artist John Wort Hannam. Wort Hannam, honoured as Solo Artist of the Year and recipient of the Contemporary Album of the Year at the 2023 Canadian Folk Music Awards, will add his voice and song to the magic of this special afternoon.

Following the concert, a reception will be held, providing an opportunity to reminisce with past artistic directors, esteemed guests, and share in the memories through photo and memorabilia displays.

Calgary Vocal Festival Showcase We invite you to celebrate the art of singing in the finale of the inaugural Calgary Vocal Festival!

May 03, 2024, 7:30p.m. in the Eckhardt Gramatte Hall, Rozsa Centre, University of Calgary.

The Calgary Vocal Festival Showcase will feature performances that include a variety of ages and vocal styles as recommended by our adjudication team in the areas of: Classical Vocal, Musical Theatre, and Contemporary Vocal. In addition, we will be announcing our 'Most Outstanding Singer' and 'Most Promising Singer' recipients. Come witness the energy and vocal accomplishments of these emerging artists.

Grade 8 to Grade 12 Spring Concert The Westmount Charter School Symhonic Band, Senior Jazz Band, Chamber Orchestra, and Senior Concert Band students from grade 8 to grade 12 will present their Spring Concert on May 21, 2024 at the Rozsa Centre. These high school students train two three times per week and attend music festivals, trips, camps and obtain mentorship from professional musicians. Our music students are educated by a hands-on, inclusive, interdisciplinary approach. As a result, a strong socially conscious community of musicians has emerged. This has occurred because each student’s talents and skills are celebrated in our Gifted and Talented Education program.

Journeys: The Sky Is Not The Limit Join the Bands of Central Memorial High School with special guests to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our PVA Program! The PVA Program was started in 2003 to give exceptional high school students the accelerated and high intensity program that has challenged and launched so many amazing young musicians. See the Concert band, which is open to everyone, as they share the Hero's Journey with music from Kevin Putz, Randall Standridge, Jennifer Rose, and Journey. The PVA Wind Ensemble will be sharing Interstellar/Introspective - a suite of pieces that explores the mysteries of the universe while exploring our own perspectives and experiences. Featuring music by Viet Cuong, Gustav Holst, Steven Bryant, and a new commissioned work to celebrate our 20th Anniversary by Peter Meechan.

Yalenka Society of Ukrainian Dancers - Year End Recital Join the Yalenka Ukrainian Dancers for our year end recital. This year We are proud to present our storyline; Forest Song (Lisova, Pisniya). Based on the play by Lesya Ukrainka. Forest Song tells the story of a young man Lukash, who falls in love with a forest creature known as a Mavka, a beautiful, kind-hearted girl who loves all that grows and lives in the forest. Forest Song tells the story of their meeting, returning to Lukash’s home to his disapproving mother, and the tragedy and misfortune that befalls them all. In addition to this special production, prepared to be wowed with all of our classes repertoire pieces.
